Motion text

That this House welcomes the publication of the Audit Commission Report on Value for Money in the Fire Service 'In Line of Fire'; commends the Commission's view that more time, energy and resources should be devoted by the fire services to the prevention of fires, a view also supported by the general public, fire safety specialists, the fire safety industry and both CACFOA and the Fire Brigades Union on behalf of the fire service itself; and therefore looks forward to seeing the recommendations of the Commissions's report on fire prevention being implemented to ensure a prompt reduction in injuries and death from fire in the United Kingdom and a reduction in property losses from fires which currently produce needless economic loss, pollution of the environment and unemployment for citizens of the United Kingdom.
