Motion text

That this House notes that although one month has elapsed since the collapse of Barings no efforts have been made to secure the extradition of Mr Nick Leeson from Frankfurt to answer charges related to deception under British legal jurisdiction; and, given the more than ú300,000 paid by Barings to Conservative Party funds since 1990, considers that this undue delay in asking the German authorities to extradite Leeson reflects a desire by Conservative Party leaders to avoid political embarrassment, which demonstrates again the interface between political, judicial and financial motives in cases involving money, ministers, and the Conservative Party, which is the hallmark of the present administration.
