Motion text

That this House notes that, on 30th January 1995, Z. Ibrahim, Head of the Iraqi Interest Section at the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordon, claimed in a faxed letter to the honourable Member for Birmingham, Selly Oak that her letter of 9th November 1994 requesting a response on the subject of the Iraqi regime's policy of mutilating offenders had not reached the Embassy but, if a copy would be forwarded, immediate action would be taken; condemns the failure of Mr Ibrahim to respond to two further letters on the subject; is horrified that such a policy should be in force at all; calls on the Government strongly to condemn Iraq's actions; and demands a response from Iraq's representatives in the United Kingdom.
