Motion text

That this House wishes to pay tribute to Bernard Dix, former boy soldier, Woolwich Arsenal worker and Assistant General Secretary of the National Union of Public Employees who died on 20th April and who has been one of the foremost campaigners against low pay; believes that his contribution to the current debate on a national minimum wage was crucial and should be recognised; recognises that his death represents a great loss to the labour movement, his adopted country and the Mynydd Cerrig Workingmen's Club; mourns the death of the author of Low Pay and How to End It who spent his life, carrying out the title of another of his books, Serving the Public, Building the Union; and sends its condolences to Eileen, his family and countless friends.
