YOUNG PEOPLE OF THE WORLD
EDM #209
Tabled 07 December 1994
1994-95 Session
That this House commends the Financial Times newspaper for its recent publication of their commissioned survey, The World's Young People, which convincingly argues how urgent and relevant are the problems of children and youth to business, economic and political leaders; recognises the need for more attention to be paid by governments to this area, a factor emphasised best by recent statistics which show that by the year 2000 at least half of the world's population will be under 20 years of age; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government fully to support the endeavours of the International Youth Foundation and other organisations which strive to develop and support successful programmes for children and youth worldwide.
