Motion text

That this House believes that, in the light of new scientific evidence detailing the effects of global warming, ozone depletion, over-fishing, pollution and other environmental threats to whales and dolphins, which threaten them with serious decline and possibly extinction, the Government must endeavour to ensure that the existing International Whaling Commission moratorium on commercial whaling is extended for at least another 50 years, that the International Whaling Commisison undertakes a 50 year programme of benign research into the impact of environmental degradation on whales and dolphins and that the International Whaling Commission ensures the effective conservation of all 80 species of whales and dolphins.
