Motion text

That this House congratulates the Alzheimer's Disease Society on its Alzheimer's Awareness Week, Opening the Mind, from 7th to 13th July, focusing on progress in dementia research; notes that developments in genetics and microbiology over recent years have led to a better understanding of the causes of Alzheimer's; notes that the development of new treatments which delayed the onset of dementia by five years would halve the numbers of people and families affected and reduce long-term care costs; and calls on the Government to ensure the United Kingdom's leading role in dementia research by fostering a long-term partnership between the private, public and charity sectors to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
