Motion text

That this House calls upon Her Majesty's Government to recommend to the European Union that the ban on beef exports be lifted immediately from those regions of Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales which have qualify-assured beef schemes and established traceability procedures which confirm BSE-free status in herds; notes this would be an immediate means of restoring consumer confidence and protecting the beef industry pending BSE eradication measures which would satisfy the EU that the unjust blanket ban on United Kingdom beef should be lifted.
