Motion text

That this House congratulates the Carers National association for organising National Carers Week from Monday 29th April to Sunday 5th May; recognises the enormous contribution that 6.8 million carers make to the provision of community care throughout the United Kingdom; notes the implementation of the Carers Recognition and Services Act 1995 on 1st April entitling eligible carers to request an assessment from their social services authority; and calls on all health and social care professionals to ensure that carers are made aware of their rights under this Act and that carers, who are providing a considerable amount of care, are offered practical help and support.
