That this House congratulates Manchester United and its supporters on the unique achievement of obtaining the league and cup double for the second time; applauds the efforts of the players; and especially notes the achievement of Alex Fergerson, whose record as manager of Manchester United and formerly of Aberdeen places him amongst the great figures of British football.

at end add `and deplores the conduct of those spectators wearing the favours of Liverpool FC, who by their disgraceful assaults upon the Captain and Manager of Manchester United betrayed the proud tradition for which the players and supporters of Liverpool FC have long been noted, of good humour and generosity towards their opponents both in victory and in occasional defeat.'.
