DARE (DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION)
EDM #272
Tabled 15 January 1996
1995-96 Session
There has been an amendment to this EDM.
That this House congratulates the Nottinghamshire Police Force, the Mansfield District Council, the Nottinghamshire Police Authority, Nottinghamshire TEC, the Nottinghamshire County Council and other local authorities in Nottinghamshire including health authorities and education departments for their full participation in and support of the DARE programme, a scheme which focuses on drugs education and prevention, targeted at children in schools before they reach an age at which they are most likely to encounter a drug involvement situation; views as important DARE's unique objective of developing positive attitudes amongst young children about the benefits of not using drugs; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to encourage all education authorities and police forces in the United Kingdom to introduce the DARE scheme in their areas at the earliest opportunity.
