WARM HOMES

EDM (Early Day Motion) 312: tabled on 05 December 1996

Tabled in the 1996-97 session.

This motion has been signed by 196 Members. It has not yet had any amendments submitted.

As this motion is using historical data, we may not have the record of the original ordering, in which case signatories are listed alphabetically.

Motion text

That this House commends the Energy Conservation (Fifteen Year Programme) Bill introduced in the last Session by a cross-party group of honourable Members which would require the Secretary of State to draw up a 15 year programme of action to ensure that energy conservation measures are taken on 500,000 houses per year over a period of 15 years; acknowledges that such a programme is designed to end fuel poverty in the United Kingdom; recognises that it would benefit the environment and create jobs; notes that the Bill does not create powers of entry in private homes; further notes that it does not involve compelling private individuals to carry out works, but rather relies on persuasion and promotion; and hopes that there will be time to discuss and pass the Bill in this Session.

The first 6 Members who have signed to support the motion are the sponsors. The primary sponsor is generally the person who tabled the motion and has responsibility for it. The date shown is when the Member signed the motion.
