Motion text

That this House is alarmed by figures which show that currently one in 12 men in the United Kingdom will at sometime in their lives diagnosed as suffering from prostate cancer, that 12,500 new cases are being identified each year in Britain and that incidences of the disease whilst doubling in number in the past two decades are expected to double in number in the next 20 years; congratulates the Prostate Cancer Charity organisation for the work it has undertaken to highlight such facts and arguethe need for greater levels of research to understand the problem which affects so many men during their lifetime; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to recognise the work of this fine charity organisation by instructing relevant Government departments and the Medical Research Council to liaise closely with the Prostate Cancer Charity in its role of focusing attention on the care and welfare needs of sufferers and their families.
