Motion text

That this House notes with concern the slowing down of the Middle East peace process since Prime Minister Netanyahu came to power in Israel; recalls that permanent status negotiations, relating to the particularly difficult issues of Jerusalem, settlements and refugees, which, under the terms of the Oslo Accord, were due to begin in May have still not got underway; notes that, in the meantime, the government of Israel is continuing to create facts on the ground which will effectively preclude a satisfactory final settlement; and urges the international community to uphold the right of the Palestinian people to peace with justice and to an independent state.
