Motion text

That this House notes the publication of the Local Exchange Trading Schemes Private Members Bill; regrets that it did not pass the second reading stage; recognises the important contribution of over 450 local exchange trading schemes to regenerating local economies, creating stronger communities and pathways out of poverty into work; and calls on the Government to remove the uncertainty as to the treatment of LETS units for the purpose of calculating benefits, noting that in Australia the Deahm amendment disregarded them and that in America participation in the Time Dollars Scheme is actively encouraged for those on welfare.
