Motion text

That this House believes that the National Lottery must be a people's lottery in tune with the aspirations of the British people and that, upon the expiry of the current licence, an efficient not-for-profit operator should be sought to maximise sums to good causes distributed across the country; also believes that a new lottery good cause fund should be established to support initiatives which fall outside the services provided through taxation projects, and which should include projects to ensure teachers have skills and materials to make Britain a world leader in information and communications technologies, to help children enrich their school experience by a programme of after-school learning and activities, to develop a national network of healthy living centres and to support young talent in science, technology and the arts through the establishment of a National Endowment for Science and the Arts; and therefore believes that the aim of all those involved in the operation, delivery and regulation of the Lottery should be to help maximise funds for good causes with due consideration for the public interest.
