ROYAL COMMISSION ON ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS

EDM (Early Day Motion) 1036: tabled on 26 July 2000

Tabled in the 1999-00 session.

This motion has been signed by 229 Members. It has not yet had any amendments submitted.

Motion text

That this House recognises the continued public unease surrounding the use of animal experiments; notes the half million signature petition presented to the Prime Minister's Office by Naturewatch supporters; deplores the excessive secrecy which still permeates the animal experiment industry; and urges Her Majesty's Government to set up a Royal Commission inquiry to review the effectiveness and justification of animal experiments.
