Motion text

That this House welcomes the decision of the High Court to ask the Director of Public Prosecutions to re-examine the case for the prosecution of the employers of Simon Jones, killed on his first day at work at Shoreham Docks and expresses its dismay that, according to the court, the DPP wrongly and irrationally applied the law in this case; congratulates the Simon Jones Campaign and the family's legal team; and calls upon the Government to review the whole position of the law on corporate manslaughter and to institute a public inquiry into the continuing toll of avoidable workplace deaths in Britain.
