Suggested amendment

Leave out from 'congratulates' to end and add 'the Conservative leader, Councillor Eric Pickles, on his determined and inspired leadership of Bradford City Council; notes that Councillor Mohammed Riaz has resigned as a Labour councillor to join the successful, ruling Conservative Group; congratulates Councillor Riaz on his good sense; and urges honourable Members representing Bradford constituencies to stop their perpetual whingeing about the excellent job being done by Conservatives on Bradford City Council of improving services and cutting out waste.'.

Original motion text

That this House congratulates Tony Crogan on the publication of "The Pickles Papers"; believes his revelations about the excesses of modern Conservatism in Bradford serve as a timely warning to the citizens of Bradford and to the rest of the country; calls for a full and independent inquiry into the plans to privatise Bradford's school-meal service; and finally condemns the policies and abuse of local democracy perpetrated by Councillor Eric Pickles, Leader of Bradford Council, and his Conservative colleagues since they took control of Bradford Council in October 1988.
