Motion text

That this House calls for darts to be recognised as a sport; acknowledges that darts is enjoyed by more participants than every activity currently recognised as a sport; notes that the United Kingdom is the world's leading darts playing nation; observes that many other countries recognise darts as a sport; believes that the discrimination in the United Kingdom against darts should be ended; requests Her Majesty's Government to find an early legislative opportunity to broaden the scope of the Physical Training and Recreation Act 1937 which would enable darts to be funded by the United Kingdom sports councils; and urges the Northern Ireland and Scottish sports councils to agree with the Welsh and English sports councils to change their Royal charters once the 1937 Act has been amended so they can recognise darts as a sport.
