Motion text

That this House notes the vast profits recently announced by the Jarvis group of companies, a group which was fined £500,000 for putting rail passengers and workers at risk following two derailments in 1999; further notes Jarvis's otherwise appalling safety record; and calls on the Government to ensure that Railtrack's successor employs a direct labour force to rid the rail network of the current plethora of sub-contracting.
