Motion text

That this House notes the widespread concern of industry and trades unions about the damaging effect of continuing reviews of the export Credits Guarantee Department; observes that the availability of competitive and consistent support from the Export Credits Guarantee Department is often essential to the winning of major export contracts for British capital goods; and urges the Government to ensure the Export Credits Guarantee Department has the freedom to provide support to British exporters that is at least comparable to that enjoyed by companies in other industrialised countries.
