Motion text

That this House notes that the honourable Members for Wythenshawe and Sale East, Battersea, Blackpool South, West Lancashire, Wolverhampton North East and Milton Keynes South West, all serving as parliamentary private secretaries to Government ministers, have given their backing to the introduction of a Bill which would abolish Britain's grammar schools, abolish the ability of specialist schools to offer education to pupils with an aptitude in their specialism, in direct contradiction to the stated aims of the Government; applauds the role played by specialist and grammar schools in building educational excellence; and calls on the Government publicly to disown those who backed the proposal.
