Motion text

That this House notes with concern the suggestion of a joint declaration to be signed between the British and Spanish Governments regarding joint sovereignty of Gibraltar; further notes that the people of Gibraltar would not be able to vote on whether such a declaration should be signed; believes that the talks under the Brussels Process should not continue in this manner and that talks on the future of Gibraltar should not take place without the presence of the Chief Minister of Gibraltar; expresses its grave concern over the comments made by the Spanish Foreign Minister in which he refuses to recognise the rights of the people of Gibraltar to self-determination; and calls on the British Government to make no further decisions on the future of Gibraltar without the consent of the Gibraltar citizens in a referendum.
