REGULATION OF TRAIN DRIVERS' HOURS

EDM (Early Day Motion) 477: tabled on 26 November 2001

Tabled in the 2001-02 session.

This motion has been signed by 129 Members. It has not yet had any amendments submitted.

As this motion is using historical data, we may not have the record of the original ordering, in which case signatories are listed alphabetically.

Motion text

That this House supports the campaign by the Association of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen for the regulation of the hours of work of train drivers because it is recognised that long hours in control of a train causes tiredness that can impair concentration and contribute to stress-related illnesses, such as anxiety and depression; believes that train drivers should be afforded the same protection as other land-based drivers; and calls on the Government to include the regulation of train drivers' hours in its proposed railway safety legislation.
