Suggested amendment

leave out from 'weapons' to end and add 'recognises the example of banning legal handguns that has had the effect of destroying a well run and successful Olympic sport in this country whilst since that ban the illegal use of handguns has rocketed, and given these facts recommends that the police enforce to the full the already existing tight rules on the use of air weapons to prevent their misuse.'.

Original motion text

That this House views with great concern the misuse of air weapons; believes that our constituents would be better protected and animal welfare improved if the Government brought the regulation of air weapons into line with other gun regulations, raised the age of unsupervised use from 14 years of age to 17 and required all 17 year olds to be supervised by an adult over the age of 21 years.
