Motion text

That this House supports the campaign by the TGWU to change the driving hours legislation that governs the working hours of bus drivers because long hours behind the wheel with few breaks are recognised to be a major cause of stress leading to permanent ill health and an increased risk of dying before retirement age; and calls for the Working Time Directive and the European Driving Hours Regulations to be extended to cover bus drivers and to provide for a maximum driving spell of four hours 30 minutes and a maximum 48 hour week.
