That this House condemns the dismissal by Pergamon Press of employees who took official one-day action in compliance with their overwhelming, properly conducted, secret ballot vote in favour of such action to secure recognition of the National Union of Journalists to represent journalists eligible for membership, choosing to be represented by the union, and not working in areas where another union already exercises similar rights; notes that on the 24th November the campaign for the reinstatement of the dismissed employees and for recognition of the National Union of Journalists to represent all its members at Pergamon reaches its six month anniversary with no progress from the management of Pergamon on these points of principle, and that so far the only offer made to the sacked members of the Pergamon National Union of Journalists Chapel has been one of ú3,500 to each Chapel member to go away - an offer that the Chapel has unanimously rejected; and calls upon Pergamon Press to reinstate the dismissed employees forthwith, to grant the right of the National Union of Journalists to represent all its members in Pergamon Press, and to enter negotiations with the National Union of Journalists in order to resolve the dispute without further industrial confrontation.
