That this House notes that 6th June 2004 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Normandy landings during the Second World War involving 150,000 service personnel; recognises the huge sacrifice made by soldiers at this time and throughout the whole war; accepts the significance of the D-Day landings as the beginning of allied forces liberating Europe; and calls on the Government to begin preparations now in order that this extremely important and historic event is commemorated appropriately on its 60th anniversary next year.
