Motion text

That this House supports liberal Muslims, human rights campaigners and others who are calling for an end to cruel traditional punishments for apostasy; recognises that in Christian and Jewish communities there has been a turning away from barbaric forms of punishment; and urges governments and religious communities everywhere to recognise that freedom does not exist where people have not the liberty to convert and practise faiths without extreme duress from family, community or religious law.
