Motion text

That this House congratulates Sussex Police and especially the work done by project leader DCI Martyn Underhill in setting up Child Rescue Alert, aimed at countering child abductions, the first scheme of its kind in Europe; notes that since phase one was launched in November last year, 15 local media companies have signed up to interrupt their programmes to broadcast information about missing children in addition to the use of bus and other traffic signs; welcomes the launch of phase two of the project last week. which will alert up to 600,000 people in Sussex via mobile phones through text messaging with mapping technology and urges everyone to register their mobile phones on www.communityalerts,co,uk; looks forward to further expansion of this excellent scheme on a permanent basis; and calls on the Home Secretary to roll out Child Rescue Alert to other police forces nationwide as soon as possible.
