Motion text

That this House congratulates Mr Mwai Kibaki on his election as President of Kenya and also the newly elected government; will look to the introduction of policies that will rebuild the economic and social structure of the country with the priority being to improve the living and social standards for the people of Kenya; calls on Her Majesty's Government to work closely and constructively with the new Kenya administration; and pays tribute to the work of the British High Commissioner for Kenya, Mr Edward Clay and his staff and all other Commonwealth high commissioners in Kenya for their ongoing role in recent months to ensure that the recent elections were free and fair.
