That this House welcomes the BBC Initiative 'Fat Nation - The Big Challenge'; applauds the pan-platform format of the initiative, which begins with a nine-part prime time programme on BBC One and continues over two years with outreach programmes, dedicated publications and activities involving local television and radio stations; believes that broadcasters such as the BBC have a pivotal role to play in helping to create a healthier and fitter Britain; and calls for government departments, local authorities and public and private sector agencies to work together and with the BBC in order to create and sustain a culture of healthy living that will lengthen and improve the lives of millions of people.
