JAGUAR MOTOR CAR PRODUCTIONS IN COVENTRY
EDM #1645
Tabled 13 September 2004
2003-04 Session
That this House expresses great concern over the future of the Jaguar Motor Car Productions in Coventry; notes that threat of closure at the Brown's Lane and Whitley sites could mean over 4,000 job losses in Coventry, contrary to the 1998 Ford Motor companies signed formal agreement, with the principal trade unions involved stating, Brown's Lane will continue to be the assembly source for the large luxury saloons (X308) and sports cars (X100). Replacements for these cars will be sourced to Brown's Lane; notes the wide effects of such a closure; urges Ford Company to honour their commitment and reconsider any proposals for the closure of Jaguar Motor Car Productions; and places emphasis on the need for further consultations between trade unions, the labour force and company officials to reach a positive solution.
