Motion text

That this House believes a significant lack of education is allowing healthcare professionals and patients alike to become confused as to the best and most effective use of blood glucose monitoring for diabetes and that because the current primary care trust guidelines discourage the prescription of blood glucose strips for self-monitoring, it may become difficult for those in primary care to meet the National Institute for Clinical Excellence-recommended blood glucose target levels; and calls on Her Majesty's government to ensure that blood glucose monitoring strips are not restricted for type II diabetes who are best placed to self-manage their condition.
