Motion text

That this House notes with great regret the death of Ronald Reagan; pays tribute to the enormously beneficial changes which he, as President of the United States of America, brought not only to his own country but also to the whole world; in particular notes the role he played, along with Margaret Thatcher and Mikhail Gorbachev, in ending the Cold War, which in turn secured the freedoms of the people of the former Soviet Union and its satellites; remembers with affection his humanity and good humour; and joins with the American people in mourning the passing of a great president and a world statesman of enormous stature.
