That this House pays tribute to the 640,000 women who served in the armed forces during the Second World War, to the seven million in the Land Army, munitions factories, fire brigades and other wartime occupations, and to the women who cared for children and other dependants at home; recognises that their contribution played an essential part in the allied victory; notes that Canada, Australia and the United States of America have national memorials to their women of World War Two, and that the United Kingdom has two national memorials to the women of World War One; congratulates the memorial to Women of World War Two charity which has raised over ú200,000 to build a memorial in this country; welcomes Westminster City Council's planning approval for the memorial to be sited in Whitehall, and the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport's support for the project; and urges the National Heritage Memorial Fund to contribute to the cost of the memorial to enable it to be unveiled in 2005 to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the war.
