That this House thanks the National Heritage Memorial Fund for its grant of ú934,000 towards the cost of a national memorial to the essential contribution made by United Kingdom women to the allied victory of the Second World War, pays tribute to the 640,000 women who served in the armed forces during the Second World War; to the seven million in the Land Army, munitions factories, fire brigades and other wartime occupations and to the women who cared for children and other dependents at home; congratulates the Memorial to Women of World War Two charity which has campaigned and raised funds to build the memorial; welcomes Westminster City Council's planning approval for the memorial to be sited in Whitehall, and the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport's support for the project; and expresses the hope that the memorial will be unveiled in 2005 to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the war.
