Motion text

That this House warmly welcomes this year's International Nurses Day on 12th May, the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, coming as it does at the end of Nurses' Week; recognises that this year's theme is 'Nurses Working with the Poor: Against Poverty'; further recognises that nurses are essential in tackling poverty; believes that communities around the world should strongly support and work with nurses in achieving this objective; congratulates nurses both in this country and abroad who care diligently for patients in need, often in badly resourced, hostile or war-torn environments; also recognises the current Nursing the Future campaign in the UK; and calls on the Government to do all it can to support nurses in this endeavour.
