Motion text

That this House expresses its deep dismay at the blatant disregard for democracy shown by Robert Mugabe and his Zanu-PF party; specifically highlights the total disrespect shown with regard to the overwhelming democratic mandate granted by the people of Harare to Engineer Elias Mudzuri in the mayoral election of 2002; points out that Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF regime has removed the Executive Mayor of Harare from office; further notes that it refuses to abide by High Court decisions in favour of Mayor Mudzuri and is seeking forcibly to evict his family from the council residence; and calls on the Government of Zimbabwe to respect the democratically expressed will of the people of Harare.
