Motion text

That this House congratulates the Sudden Adult Death Trust UK and the Arrhythmia Awareness Week Partners for their work in raising awareness of cardiac arrhythmias and its potentially fatal consequences; notes that the condition occurs when the victim's heart goes into an abnormal rhythm from which it may not recover naturally, can strike at any age, and more than 3,500 people die each year due to suffering a fatal cardiac arrhythmia; further notes that other European countries screen for cardiac conditions but the UK does not; and calls on the government to investigate the prevalence of cardiac arrhythmia so that it can receive an appropriate level of attention in the National Service Framework for coronary Heart Disease.
