Motion text

That this House notes that the Government of Bangladesh has recently banned all Ahmadiyya books and publications; further notes that numerous acts of violence have been carried out against Ahmadiyya targets, including the burning of mosques and the murder last 31st October of the local President of the Laguatpur Jammt in Jessore; deplores the escalation of religious intolerance against this peaceful and charitable branch of Islam; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to urge the Government of Bangladesh to extend the protection of the state to Ahmadiyya citizens and to resist extremist calls for legislation that would enshrine religious discrimination.
