Motion text

That this House welcomes the Government's consultation exercise on the implementation of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive which seeks to promote recycling of electrical products; regrets that the Department for Trade and Industry is still planning to exclude printer cartridges from the scope of the Directive; notes that the Directive is a minimum harmonisation measure and thus allows for the inclusion of ink cartridges currently being sent to landfill sites that could be prevented by remanufacturing; recognises that increased remanufacturing of printer cartridges is good for business choice and the environment; and calls upon the Government to include printer cartridges within the scope of the Directive.
