That this House condemns the discrimination and stigma often associated with people of restricted growth; is gravely concerned that both children and adults of restricted growth and their families are often subjected to such thoughtless discrimination via both the media and the public at large causing both embarrassment and ridicule; notes that approximately one in 25,000 births to parents of average height is of a child of restricted growth and that such births result in additional pressures being experienced by both the child and their families; praises the Restricted Growth Association and the Dwarf Athletics Association UK for all their significant work including their research into the causes of achondraplasia, the medical term for people of restricted growth; and calls on all members of society, but especially those in influential positions, be they in the media, education or the medical profession, to present positive and accurate images of those with restricted growth.
