Motion text

That this House condemns the Government's plans to create English regional assemblies; notes that they will create yet another layer of government that will take power from local government and local communities; and further notes that such regional government will create more politicians and will not result in one extra nurse, teacher or police officer.

REGIONAL ASSEMBLIES (Amendment 1)
Line 1, leave out from 'condemns' to end and insert 'yet another example of the Conservative Party's lack of judgement, imagination and commitment to democracy and looks forward to enjoying their discomfort and humiliation when the people pf Northern England show their good sense by voting 'Yes' to greater involvement and control over fundamentally important decisions that profoundly affect their lives.'
