Motion text

That this House congratulates the British Marine Federation (BMF) on the second anniversary of its use of the Excel Exhibition Centre as the venue for the Schroeder's London Boat Show; recognises the efforts of the Federation in securing and investing in this superb venue for a second year; notes that over 200,000 people are expected to visit the Boat Show, which has already hosted an event to promote the London 2012 Olympic Bid and which will also be acting as a focus to co-ordinate the marine industry response to the recent tsunami in South East Asia, collecting donations throughout the period of the show; further notes the significant role the BMF plays for its 1,500 members; and acknowledges that almost four million people enjoy their recreation afloat on the coast and inland waterways of this country, which is primarily a maritime nation and which depends greatly on the sea for its trade and economic success.
