Motion text

That this House applauds the campaign by Mr and Mrs Van Neck of Plympton, Plymouth for improvements to cervical smear tests following the tragic death of their daughter Sue in 1999, following a number of inaccurate test results; welcomes the Government's decision in 2004 to introduce throughout England the liquid-based cytology method of screening, and anticipates real benefits for all women as a result; is concerned, however, that the Government has indicated that it may take as long as five years to roll out liquid-based cytology testing throughout the whole country; and calls upon the Government and every strategic health authority to speed up the introduction of the same so that more women's lives may be saved.
