Motion text

That this House recognises that endometriosis is a gynaecological condition which can cause infertility, extreme and constant pain and depression; further recognises that endometriosis is a relatively unknown condition despite the fact that up to two million women in the UK are sufferers; congratulates the work of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Endometriosis in helping to highlight the condition; further recognises that the cause of endometriosis is as yet unknown; notes that there is no cure for the condition; expresses concern that the Government has presided over a decrease in funding for research into endometriosis, from £1.8 million per year in 1998-99 to £1 million in 2002-03; encourages the scientific community to continue bringing forward research applications on endometriosis; and calls on the Government to do more to help those who suffer from the condition.
