Motion text

That this House notes that St George's Day is celebrated on 23rd April; recognises that while St George's Day is widely celebrated across England it is not a national holiday; believes that if St George's Day were made a national holiday people would be able to enjoy and reflect upon English history and celebrate everything that is good about England and English society, including virtues such as tolerance and diversity, helping to build a real sense of community throughout the country; and calls on the Government to make St George's Day a national holiday.
