That this House welcomes the opening of the European Union accession negotiations with Turkey that took place on 3rd October; acknowledges that extraordinary willpower was shown by everyone involved in this historic decision; and notes that Turkey has developed rapidly over recent years and that the time was right for wider and deeper commitment by both Turkey and the European Union.
